About the reserve

A private wilderness on Kruger's open border

Kruger Reserve is a 32,000-hectare private concession sharing an unfenced 28km boundary with Kruger National Park. No fences means wildlife roams freely — lions, leopards, wild dogs, herds of 800 buffalo and over 2,000 elephants move through our river systems year-round.

Founded by former Kruger Park rangers and the local Mnisi community, we reinvest 12% of every stay into anti-poaching, water protection and education. Our model: low density (1 bed per 1,300ha), high expertise (FGASA Level 3 guides + Shangaan trackers), zero compromise on wilderness.

1998Reserve proclaimed. 4 cattle farms rewilded, fences dropped to Kruger Park, first 3 lions reintroduced.
2012Big Five restored. Black rhino and wild dog dens return. Photographic hide built on Nkomazi River.
2021Community owned. 40% stake transferred to Mnisi Trust. 180 local jobs, school & clinic funded.
2026Rewilding 2.0. Cheetah reintroduction, 12km riverine restoration, solar-only lodges.
